Network technicians and network administrators are responsible for installing, optimizing, and protecting computer networks.

Study topics include Cisco routers and switches, Windows server, Linux administration, cloud services, security and disaster recovery, and network troubleshooting.

A+ Certification Preparation

This course provides instruction on both general and specific computing environments. Topics include an introduction to Microsoft technologies. Candidates will work hands on with installation and deployment techniques, upgrading processes to Windows Operating systems, including ensuring hardware and software compatibility. Additionally, candidates will work with and be able to configure pre-installation and post-installation system settings, Windows security features, network connectivity applications included with Windows Operating systems, and mobile computing. Candidates will also put into practice the fundamentals of troubleshooting the OS. Topics covered will include: An Introduction to Implementing, Managing, Monitoring hardware devices and drivers; How to optimize system performance and reliability; Configure and troubleshooting the TCP/IP protocol.

Cloud Essentials

This course helps students understand the cloud, support cloud users, use and configure cloud services and focuses on technical skills related to supporting cloud users. It will train students in the areas of troubleshooting common Office 365 and Office 2016 issues.

Network+ and Security+ Fundamentals

This course provides instruction in network design and technologies using the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. Topics include network fundamentals, the OSI model, network operating systems, TCP/IP fundamentals and utilities, network installation and upgrades, network remote access configuration and protocols, network administration and security, fault tolerance and disaster recovery considerations and procedures, and network troubleshooting procedures. The course also covers all aspects of computer network security, from physical security to local computer security to Internet related security methods. Emphasis is placed on the analytical skills required by a security specialist. Certification: CompTIA Net+, CompTIA Security+.

Linux Administration

Unix is an operating system that is a standard for many different types of computers. It is known as one of the most flexible operating systems, one of the most difficult to master, and, unfortunately, one of the most expensive to obtain. Linux is an affordable Unix clone that was created and continues to be maintained by many talented individuals from around the world. In fact, many companies now recognize Linux expertise as a sign of generally strong computer knowledge and list knowledge of Linux as a qualifying skill for many types of jobs. This course introduces the capabilities and features of Linux
as a multi-user operating system and prepares the student for the opportunity to write the Linux
Certification exams level 1 and 2. (LPIC-1, LPIC-2) This course introduces the capabilities and features of
Linux as a multi-user operating system. Topics include system planning and installing a Linux system,
managing desktop interfaces, working with the shell and text files, the role of the system administrator,
performing system administrator tasks such as managing system resources and creating scripts, and
performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques.

Office 365 Tenant

This course will prepare students to evaluate, plan, migrate, deploy, and manage Microsoft 365 services.
It will teach students to design and implement Microsoft 365, manage user identities and roles and
manage access and authentication.

Network Infrastructure and Administration

This course is designed to provide instruction in implementing and administering a Windows network
infrastructure. Topics include installing, configure, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting DNS;
installing, configure, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting network protocols; installing,
configure, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting WINS; installing, configure, managing,
monitoring, and troubleshooting IP routing; installing, configure, and troubleshooting Network Address
Translation; and installing, configure, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Certificate Services.

Windows Server Operating Systems

This is a course in the installation and operation of Windows Server. Topics include installing, configure,
and troubleshooting Windows; access to resources; hardware devices and drivers; managing,
monitoring, and optimizing system performance, reliability, and availability; managing, configure, and
troubleshooting storage use; Configure and troubleshooting network connections; and implementing,
monitoring, and troubleshooting security.

Active Directory Infrastructure and Config. Azure

This course is designed to provide instruction in implementing and administering a Windows Directory
Services infrastructure. Topics include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Active Directory;
installing, configuring, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting DNS for Active Directory; installing,
configuring, managing, monitoring, optimizing, and troubleshooting change and configuration
management; managing, monitoring, and optimizing the components of Active Directory; and
configuring, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Active Directory security.

Routers and Switches

This course introduces the concepts and procedures required to configure Cisco switches and routers in
multi-protocol internetworks. Topics include using the Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS); the
Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model and layered communication; LAN design,
technologies, and virtual LANs; bridging, switching, and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP); the TCP/IP
protocol suite and IP and IPX addressing, sub netting, and configuration; routing basics, protocols, and
configuration; access list security and configuration; and Wide Area Network (WAN) design, protocols,
and technologies.

Career Development

This seminar provides an opportunity for the student to apply the techniques and processes for
developing a career path and to learn lifetime career management tools and skills. Topics include
career-planning, job searching, developing career search documents, refining interview skills, and
preparing for a new position.

Internship

The internship component of the program is the practical application of a student’s knowledge and skills
in an industry environment. The industry shall be directly related to the student’s program of study. The
internship requires full-time day attendance working in the industry setting. The duration of the
internship is seven weeks.
