Admissions Requirements

To attend a college in Canada, you must obtain a study permit. If you want to study in Montreal, you also need a Certificat d’Acceptation du Québec (CAQ). Before you can get a study permit or a CAQ, you must get a letter of acceptance from a college.

In order for us to issue a letter of acceptance, you must satisfy the following criteria.

Age and Education Level

You must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years of age on the start date of your program.

Language Proficiency

You must pass the Herzing College entrance assessment evaluation or provide proof of English proficiency by submitting a TOEFL/IELTS score.

Minimum scores:

  • TOEFL: 173 (CBT) or 60 (IBT)
  • IELTS: 6.0, with no band less than 5.5 for AEC programs and 5.0 for DEP programs

If your high school (or equivalent) was instructed in English, a TOEFL/IELTS score is not required.

Exceptions are considered, but not guaranteed, for those students who attended a non-English speaking high school but attended a post-secondary facility instructed in English.

For all students enrolled in a French program in Quebec, the language proficiency required is as follows:

  • DEP programs: B1 level
  • AEC programs: B2 level

If your language skills don’t meet these requirements, we can help! Learn more about the Herzing College Language Academy.

Other Requirements

You must pass our online entrance test.

How to Apply

You will need to submit the following documents to international@herzing.ca:

  • Copy of an original birth certificate and official translation into French or English
  • Copies of latest diploma(s) and transcript(s) of secondary and post-secondary level education. If documents are not in English, you will need to provide a certified translation and have it assessed for Canadian equivalency.
  • Copy of your passport page with your photo and date of birth. Current address is necessary if not stated on passport.
  • Language test scores, if required

You must also pay a non-refundable registration fee of $250 (Canadian funds) for Montreal programs, $250 (Canadian funds) for Toronto, Ottawa, or  $225 (Canadian funds) for Winnipeg programs. This fee is included in the total cost of the training. Once you enrol, the registration fee will be deducted from the total cost of the training.

Please be advised that seats are limited and entrance is on a first come first served basis. During high-volume periods, you may expect a delay of 10 to 15 working days to receive the letter of acceptance. The process starts after the registration fee is paid and proper documents are submitted.
